I use WordPress.org for my main blog but I had a steep learning curve with it. (I migrated it from Wordpress.com because it lacked some features that I wanted.)

I use tumblr for a couple of other blogs that I run which mainly feature photos. I used to be weary of tumblr but I follow some well thought out writers, artists, etc on there. I would say that it's pretty simple. Plus you have the benefit of people liking or reblogging your posts easily.

Many use blogger.com because they can connect with others via Google Friend Connect. It does seem to grow their readership. I have a blog on there too but I only use it to follow people now. It was too simple and I didn't dig the look of it, if that makes any sense.

I also used to use Tripod as a teen but I find it slow/annoying now.

I write articles on a site that uses the Drupal platform and it seems okay but don't do much directly with it.
