ok so im trying to explain to my super NT family what aspergers is and they are just not getting it (kinda frustrating) so if i was to tell them AS makes me Emotionally Dyslexic and just leave it at that would I be accurate?

Don't know how it is for you, but I would choose to say "socially" dyslexic...but people are different :)

Socially and emotionally dyslexic, while being hyperlexic with nearly everything else.

When my mother first told my grandfather I had AS, he looked at her quizzically and asked "Is she ret*d?"

People with AS have average to high average or even genius levels of intelligence and tend to excel at certain subjects. However the trade-off to these talents is that they often have social deficits as in difficulty understanding or interpreting the social behavior of others, and hypersensitivity.
