That's right it did not die in the 60's there are modren psychedelic rock bands these days as well.

A couple examples are:
The Black Angels
The Dolly Rocker Movement
Wooden Shijps(that might be spelled wrong...)
Black Mountain

So if you like this genre listen to those, and if you know of any others let me know.

What constitutes psychadelic rock? I really like the Flaming Lips and Ween (which are awesome sounds to have psychadelic experiences to) but don't know if that actually counts. How about Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Explosions in the Sky?

Well from what I have found if it sounds like psychedelic rock it probably is.....I am not sure of the exact defintion of psychedelic rock.....but in my opinion if it is rock, sounds trippy and has some amount of blues influence it's psychedelic there is psychedelic hard rock to like Led Zeppelin......a more modren one would be The Devils Blood.

I have not heard those ones but I will check them out.

Ween is pretty rad. Other psychedelic rock type music, try Apollo Sunshine, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Man Man, MGMT of course, Awesome Color, Pendulum, Sleigh Bells (that might be a stretch), Beck, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Eels, The Shins..... I admit I might be defining this genre too broadly but EH

The Orange Alabaster Mushroom are a psychedelia band from the 90s, and I really like their stuff. Amorphous Androgynous are cool too.

There's a party in my head and no one is invited. I love the lyrics of this song. The band is called Tame Impala.

And to think I thought The Orange Alabaster Mushroom was from the 60's...failed to look at the date I guess. But I didn't hear that song before and am listening to it and liking it at the moment. I think I've heard the other band to but I'll have to listen to that next and find out.

Don't forget Sleepy Sun! Their new album, Spine Hits is disappointingly not very psychedelic, but their previous two, Fever and Embrace couldn't be more awesome!

Also, The Myrrors, Weird Owl, and Egypt are great, too!

I usually call the styles I like simply head music. Psychedelic falls into this catagory. In addition to quite a few bands mentioned here... Deerhunter, the horrors, sufjan Stevens, bear vs shark, animal collective (couple albums were rock styles), faith no more, mr bungle, fu manchu. If I had my library could point out more.
