Do you support the death penalty?
For heinous crimes, yes. I know you're probably going to tell me that contradicts libertarianism, but I'll wait until you've made the argument before I retort.
No need for the argument, I just don't get it.
Over here in Britain we have a blogger called Guido who calls himself a libertarian and has just started a campaign to reintroduce the death penalty.
A chap who calls himself a libertarian and models himself on Guy Fawkes (who was tortured and executed for his anti government activities) wishes to give the state the power to kill it's own citizens.
Personally I don't trust the state as far I can throw it on most things, if you look at the roll out of DNA forensics in the USA, 20 people on death row have had their convictions overturned in the last decade because it was proved that they were completely innocent.
I don't mean they were probably guilty but got let off on a technicality by a bunch of bleeding heart liberals and civil rights campaigners, I mean they were completely and utterly innocent of all charges. Yet the state was intending to kill them.
How can this possibly be acceptable for anyone that values individual freedom over the state?
