sensory issues and autism

for those with sensory issues, do you think sensory issues cause autism?

ie, is it possible that the sensory problems confuse the brain enough and cause a critical emotional developmental milestone to be missed?

I think they have something, but not everything, to do with it-- perhaps that they exacerbate the problems that an already miswired brain causes. I have severe sensory issues.

I don't think sensory issues cause autism - especially because there are people with sensory issues but not autism.

I do think that sensory issues can cause other autistic traits to be more severe than they otherwise would.

Sensory issues make my other autistic issues worse sometimes, but even without the sensory issues it's not like I have the social perceptions and interactions of an NT.
