Opeth, Korn, A few of Alice In Chains and Slipknot's songs, and I'd class a couple of Nightwish songs as heavy

Is this question even worth asking? An awful lot of people like Metal, and not only that but there is a search function listing a million other discussions of this type already.

That being said, I promise not to be a bastard any more. I recently came across this little curiosity:

I like 80s metal, like Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, all that sorta stuff. I like a few Atreyu songs. Mainly, for metal, my favorite stuff is power metal. But 80% of the time I listen to girly pop music.

Yes, mostly melodic death and avant-garde/prog at the moment. My avitar is a part of the album cover for Mechanical Poet's Woodland Prattlers; a great orchestral prog metal album. I believe it's underrated and deserves more attention.

I like many variations of metal. I'm particularly drawn to folk metal and songs with a hint of that epic mournful/atmospheric sound.

Bands that I listen to include (starting from the well known to the obscure):

Alice In Chains - Alternative Metal/Grunge
Pantera - Heavy Metal
Mastodon - Progressive Metal
Agalloch - Atmospheric Folk Metal
Drudkh - Black/Folk Metal
Himinbjorg - Black/Viking Metal
Darkestrah - Folk/Black Metal (hailing from Kyrgyzstan!)

I'm actually off to see a Rock'n'Roll/Metal outfit from Norway called 'Kvelertak' in Camden on Saturday.

Here are a few songs from the above named artists.
