I'm inclined to see it as staged because of the traditional shape of the coffin. I have never seen that shape used in real life, if you'll pardon the expression, but perhaps it is common in Europe.

I've never actually seen pallbearers hoist a coffin onto their shoulders, either. A casket with a body in it is pretty heavy.
