Does the Trans Am speedometer even go that high?

Obviously, my brother's Trans-Am was not a "stock" model ... he likes to tinker with and customize his cars.

Yeah.

If you had the road, and the car for it, makes a world of a difference.

I've only done it few times, and it is just testing it out-- not a thrill ride on my end. I just appreciate engineering. I backed off at the top, I didn't like the idea of no helmet or roll cage. Likely it would end if it rolled-- or you would wish it did.

I've never had a sports car. I thought maybe the speedometer went that high in one straight from the factory to the showroom.

I've mostly been too afraid the cops would give me a ticket. If I tried, I'd get the highest speeding ticket in history, so I try to go the speed limit and if I do speed, I don't speed too high.

The fastest I've driven so far is 113mph(181kph). Thing was I did it in a 16 year old(at the time) Honda Accord. The car shook pretty bad above 60 but stopped around 80. I thought at the time it was because the vibration rate wasn't resonant with the car anymore(and that might still be the reason) but looking back I think now that the car was starting to lift off the ground at that speed.

When I was younger and less wise, I drove my Corvette at such a speed that the speedometer stopped registering and blinking "188". That was down a long straight hill, with no crosswind, and at 3:00 in the morning (and for any police reading this, it was about 25 years ago, and the statute is decades expired, I hope...). I have also taken a motorcycle over 150mph; again, that was in the early 1980s. Nowadays, I seldom drive over most speed limits, and only then to pass a slower car safely before returning to the legal speed. And on motorcycles, I still tend to want to open it up, and take canyons at a few multiples of the speed limit  , but I do so in a mindful way.

122 km/h / 75.8 mph. I went over the speed limit (110 km/h) because I forgot to keep my eye on the speedometer.

120 in one car, had a speed limiter. 110 in my car, got there fast but ran out of gears, 160+ as a passenger, ran out of road and had to slow down. That Camaro was insane...

One day while out driving for the hell of it, I went up to 100 mph on a farm road with nobody around just to say I did.
