Now that we've kicked around the question whether or not the US is evil let's look at it from another anlge, assuming that the United States is evil.

Let's say it is evil. The alternatives the other countries are even less appealing! We're not perfect, but our detractors are committing what psychologists refer to as a cognitive distortion known as 'discounting the positive'.

About as much as I care if thugs think they're bulletproof.

Do you even CARE if the USA is evil?

Yes, because Pascal's Wager may be well founded, and because Dante might be correct about willful indifference.

Do I care whether the most powerful nation is evil? What kind of question is that?

The US is a war mongering bully and has been since the demise of the Soviet empire.

How many more countries does it have on its "invade" list?

And why is it that EVERY country that disagrees with US foreign policy INSTANTLY becomes "the bad guys"?

Hitler "invaded"

America "protects her interests abroad"

What's the difference?

Answer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,NOTHING.

Yes, its not my child or my country right or wrong.

Being that's not the case however I take more interest in knowing who does publically call it evil, what causes they support, and what they're trying to do.

The hilarity is that the religious "moral" conservatives that don't care about the morality of their country.
Talk about cognitive dissonance.

It's all in the wording and "intent".

BTW; for some people the word "bully" is taken as a compliment...........

Two things on that:
1) You can thank the ACLU and people along those lines that all they have left - within legal means - is bull posturing and lectures
2) If they were getting more out than bull-posturing out you could have much of the American family culture run on Laura Schlessinger values.

You forget people are fighting each other in court over who has control over what and religous fundamentalists in this country are largely a castrated lot in the sense of any real power in the public sphere.

It does bother me when I hear about the bad stuff my country has done (and it bothers me even more when my own people deny it ever happens).

However that's just life, no government will ever be perfect and compared to some other countries I'd say our government does a pretty good job of taking care of us. We have plenty of food, supplies, and entertainment to keep ourselves alive and happy, and even if you're homeless in this country you are at least able to find food in soup kitchens and trashcans. Other countries like Africa can't say the same for their starving people.

There are other governments out there who probably aren't corrupt and still take good care of their people, but there are also plenty of governments who are corrupt and couldn't care less about the wellbeing of their own people. Look at the Soviet Union before they disbanded. At least you can honestly say the US does take care of its own people.

I care if it's both evil and stupid at the same time. :?
