Object of this thread, not so much the aspie experience so much as to you, personally, what songs really feel like life, really resonate with your emotions, feel about as real/honest/organic as it gets?

Post away!

It's from The Fountain, it's long and totally instrumental. It makes me feel inspired to write, and it's the song that made me want to watch the film (which I ended up loving).

This one will always have a special place in my heart. It reminds me to be thankful for everything life has to offer, even the seemingly mundane stuff.

Yellow Magic Orchestra in general seems to be a group I can resonate very well with, despite my lack of knowing Japanese. Their sorta theme is a dystopian future, which very much of the time in my life, I was just like, "Oh Brave New World!" especially after being sheltered in a Christian school for elementary school years and

This song here from Gundam is like, my life story, really. Here's the translated lyrics.

Quote:
I've tided over countless sleepless nights
This wounding pain is only a single memory
I don't need kindness; I don't want it
I'll say it twice: I don't want it

The dream I sought is just an illusion now.
I can hear someone whispering in my mind.
I don't need consolation; I don't want it
And I don't want false love either

I got a burnin' love
Until this sorrow is burnt out with a shining blue flame
I got a burnin' love
Love is a lonely battle; that intensity can pierce through the darkness

Without a winner or the like, tired out from battle
I look up at the sky; crying out is beyond my power
I don't need yesterday or the like
I don't need a dream that has rotted away

I got a burnin' heart
I just want to keep running as I chase the thrills that race through my chest

Memories that can't be expressed in words
are making even my frozen heart grow warm

I got a burnin' love
Until it's time to shed the mantle of this starry sky with a shining blue flame
I got a burnin' heart
Love is a lonely battle; will even this world flicker out of existence?
I got a burnin' love
Even today I just keep running as I chase the thrills that race through my chest
I got a burnin' heart
Love is a futile battle; why will even my heart be snatched away?

Not just in romance, but my life in general, that song fits me dead on.

OK, sorry for an excessively long post.

Here's the lyrics to mine...

Modest Mouse - Heart Cooks Brain

Quote:
Slow walk
It's land mine
It's coal mine
It's a bad thought
On the way to god don't know
my brain's the burger and my heart's the coal
I'm trying to get my head clear
i push things out through my mouth i get refilled through my ears
i'm on my way to god don't know or even care
my brain's the weak heart, and my heart's the long stairs
Inland from Vancouver shore
the ravens and the seagulls push each other inward and outward
inward and outward
in this place that i call home
my brain's the cliff, and my heart's the bitter buffalo
my heart's the bitter buffalo
we tore one down, and erected another there
the match of the century: absence versus thin air
on the way to god don't know
my brain's the burger and my heart's the coal
on this life that we call home
the years go fast and the days go so slow

Very poetic. Comes closer to saying something I can actually relate to than most any other lyrics. I'm not sure how to explain it though.

Portishead - Threads
Quote:
Better if I could find the words to say
Whenever I take a choice it turns away

I'm worn, tired of my mind
I'm worn out, thinking of why
I'm always so unsure

I battle my thoughts I find I can't explain
I've travelled so far but somehow feel the same

I'm worn, tired of my mind
I'm worn out, thinking of why
I'm always so unsure
I'm always so unsure
I'm worn, tired of my mind
I'm worn out, thinking of why
I'm always so unsure
I'm always so unsure

I'm always so unsure
I'm always so unsure
I'm always so unsure
I'm always so unsure

I am alive when I sleep
Why am I not in all that I got?
I can't find no one to blame

Stand, stand, damned one
Damned one
Damned one
Damned one

I am one
Damned
One

Where do I go?

I just take this as a song about how much depression f***ing sucks. The soundscape of this song is beautiful though.
