Today, I noticed a lot of my Facebook friends making a big deal out of the fact that it's the first day of October. I guess they're all excited for Halloween? Was anybody else excited over it being October 1st?

Clearly, they're excited about celebrating Alexander the Great's defeat of Darius III of Persia in the Battle of Gaugamela.

It's October 1st and I'm excited about celebrating my German heritage with delicious marzen beer, but I'm not looking forward to the cold, snowy months ahead.

I was exited because the weather cools,
the days are shorter and somehow prettier,
apples and pears are in the market,

It's been a year since I last took German, but I actually understood most of that.

Back on topic: I don't really care for Halloween that much. I just like to eat Milky Way bars for free.
