the government is plotting to persecute autistics
I'm a lot less afraid of Autistics ending up as our scapegoats here in the US than "illegals" and "liberals." There are broad and obvious attempts to demonize both in politics right now, just the use of the word "illegal" is one of them. It has been a palpably negative change over the last half decade.
In contrast, as a public relations matter, the US as a whole is at least trying to understand Autism. For every negative story with Autism, you can find a counter-acting positive one - that is the process when people grapple with something they don't yet fully understand, trying on different hats, seeing what fits. But the trend and the energy is very much driving towards understanding and acceptance ... it just has a lot further to go.
Keep up with smart challenges to the negative stuff, of course.

Better strap on that tin foil hat and hide under the bed. We'll give you the all-clear once it's safe to come out again.

You know he has changed his views since he posted that. He had a thread about it.
Goes to show how unempathetic people end up causing more enmity than anything else.
