I haven't listened to this in a while and I decided to so I thought it would be cool to see if anyone else likes it.

Its a band called Portishead, I am not sure how I would describe the music.....but some of it is pretty good. But yeah it sounds kind of like psychedelic rock mixed with some more electronic styles so its a bit weird but I do enjoy it.

they're even better live. I've never been that massive a fan but went to their concert this summer and they really blew me away.

Good song! Thanks for posting. Now I'll have to check out their other stuff to see if I get turned into a fan. :)

Y'know what it reminds me of? "Dear Ophelia" by Abney Park, which is one of my favorite songs. I think this one and the one you posted have similar rhythms/tempos.

That song is really old and not one of the stronger tracks from that album; I much prefer Roads or Glory Box. I'll be seeing them next month when they tour Australia for the first time in over a decade.

This are a couple of my favourite of their songs from their most recent album, Third.

Coincidentally, I've been listening to this song alot recently, and Machine Gun.

It's hardly weird. If anything, it's beautiful. Their 3 albums are faultless, and am looking forward to their next.

There is a rather amazing live performace where rap group Public Enemy (one of my favourites) come on stage and rap with the song Machine Gun. :D

Try some Dadaist protopunk:

All recorded/filmed when Czechoslovakia was still a Stalinist dictatorship.

This thread reminds me of the Portishead song that I like the best:

I think it sounds very "Euro-chic."

In a similar vein, as suggested by an earlier poster, I first thought that another song, one that happens to be by Goldfrapp, was a Portishead song (as I had first heard it at about the same time as the Portishead album, a few years ago). It's also quite good and similar enough in tone for the artist to be confused in memory, so I will post it here:

Now, if you want a weird song, here's my top weird song at the moment:

It's like rock and opera and some sort of old-style dance music and classical all mixed together.

I honestly thought they'd released Machine Gun as a piss take

This song is great though.

I prefer the old stuff generally. 'Third' was mainly just a pretentious drag. The first two albums were a pretentious drag in a good way.

lol. It's composition is beyond minimal and quite up itself I must admit.

But I'm always captivated by Beth's voice anyway. She could sing over white noise and I still would listen...within reason. :)

Portishead always bored me a bit, but the last album has some great songs on it like "Machine Gun". Definitely more my bag than Dummy and the self-titled. If you like it I suggest some of the more out-there krautrock records like Can's Tago Mago, Neu!'s Neu! and Faust's IV.

I like Portishead. The newer album, Third, is a lot different from the old ones though. It's much darker, both musically and lyrically.

Her voice on the album closer almost sends a shiver down my spine.
