Crazy. That's what I pay in 6 months for my car, an 11 year old Volvo.

Yeah maybe I was not clear insurance is required by law to pay for damage you
cause to others. Most states require $10000 none of that money is for you, your car.
It for people you crash into. People who want to cover themselves and cars pay more.

Yes, I know, but I pay about $600/year for that, believe it or not.

Yeah I'm sure insurance is cheaper in countries that do not have 750,000+ lawyers.

Probably. I had a traffic accident a couple of years ago, my car was destroyed and the motorcycle that belonged to the other man in the accident too, and he was hurt. His motorcycle was a very expensive Harley Davidson. My insurance company paid the costs for both him and me and I paid a ticket of about $80 for turning left when I wasn't allowed to and that was it...
