As I told, I don't need your identity, just age, sex and main occupation. This is not going to affect anybody's privacy. I don't want to talk about people's issues publicly because it doesn't seem fair. I'm going to paste my questions at the end of this post so that you can see them.
My name is Chiara Guarascio, I'm a student at Guglielmo Marconi University, which is located in Rome, Italy. My faculty is Scienze della Formazione (Education Science) and my degree course is Psychology. My thesis supervisor is Professor Massimo Di Giannantonio. You can googalize everything, I would put here all the links but the spam filter won't let me. You can write an email to the degree secretariat (I don't really know how to translate this, it's a special office which takes care of people who are getting a degree...) asking for Ms. Patrizia Organtini. Email to: segreteria.lauree4ATunimarconiDOTit
I don't want to be intrusive, as a matter of fact you can choose not to reply! I just want to hear from Asperger people how's to be Asperger. I will carefully read this forum, but what I am looking for is a personal contact with people. The answers, translated into Italian, will be in my thesis, WITHOUT any reference to people's identity.
I have a criminology website (criminology is one of my hobbies...): crimineDOTnet, a cooking blog (cooking is another hobby!): fancyfoodandcakesDOTblogspotDOTcom, I wrote a book, and I have a facebook account. If you googalize my name, too, you can see all the articles I wrote. Feel free to investigate; I have nothing to hide!
Chiara

Sorry, I forgot the questions people will receive! (I don't need a specific number of persons to interview)

First question: have you been diagnosed as Asperger and when?
My other questions are about how you live your everyday life. What is your main occupation (other than sex and age?) Many Aspergers can access to a job thanks to a quota....But do you really feel you have a disability? Do you feel different? I've always wondered if it's just a matter of communication, restricted interests and hypersensitivity (you are annoyed by loud noises etc), or if there's something more. What are your problems (if any) in dealing with unfamiliar people? Do you have a particular strategy? I've heard, for instance, of a guy who makes lists to be sure to say the right thing at the right time. Like: that person says that --> I have to reply like this. Do people understand your problems, do they help you or do they just treat you like you are actually different? Did you have difficulties at school? When did you actually realize to be an Asperger and what did that mean to you?

You can PM me the questions.

I don't really have a sense of privacy (especially online) but I'm guessing it would also really bog down the thread to do the Q&A routine with everyone who agreed to participate here.

I would like to thank everybody for your help and for the way you speak out. I really really appreciate this. No beating about the bush, just say what you think. If more people could do this the world would be such a better place, I'm totally sure about this.
I'd like to explain why I'm here. My initial plan was to find some adult Aspergers here in my country, sit in front of them with my videocamera on, and ask them my questions. Well, this has been impossible, so far. I asked many public/private research centers, organizations, associations to help me to get in touch with such subjects (sorry for the "subjects", I'm not looking for Guinea pigs, but for people, hope this is clear to everyone) I got only negative replies. Stuff like: "write us an email" (they never replied), "we don't have Aspergers" (weird, for an autistic association, but I could only believe them), "No way, our kids and sick and tired of being analyzed" (more likely to be true) and so on. I'm not going to give up, as a matter of fact I'm still looking for face to face encounters, but I needed to start somewhere, I had to find a way, a good way, to get personally in touch with people I could interview. And so here I am!

I agree, a little more background & credentials would help out a lot. I'm interested in participating, but not to someone who just says they are doing research without knowing how legit it is.

Thanks

I'm not doing research, I'm just a student. I'm planning to do research in my future, and hope I won't have to search on forums! Once again: you don't have to reply if you don't want to but thanks to the many people that are doing it!
