What Type of Learner Are You?

I come into lecture, and I wonder what I am doing in there most of the time. As soon as I walk through that door to leave class, everything leaves my brain. The lecturer talks and shows examples, but I cannot understand.

I recently learned that I am a kinesthetic and visual learner. The lectures were all about text and auditory. The professor talks and shows text on a powerpoint slide. No wonder I didn't understand. So, yeah, lectures are useless for me. And there is a good reason.

I just ignore the professor, read the book, and draw in class. I encourage everyone to take this test to see what type of learner they are. From what I know, many Aspies are visual and "think in pictures". College usually doesn't have many visual aides, and I now know why college has been harder for me.

I've always learned best through an engaging teacher, and writing everything I need to know down. Though that can be a single sentence to describe a half hour's lecture, I'd remember 99.9% of what was covered.

Makes sense. I tend to do best visually. If I want to learn something new I watch 'how to' videos. Lectures usually go in one ear and out the other. I did best at a technical college because it was mostly hands on. Unlike a university where it was mostly lectures.

Seems pretty accurate to me. I learn best by listening and doing.

I can deal with reading lots of text, but I have to annotate/summarize immediately and then read my annotations/notes aloud when I study.

OK. I feel even more like a freak now.

I got even scores on every test I've taken. It's been something like 1/3 visual, 1/3 audio, 1/3 that other thing. I've always found that I work best if I both see and hear something. I never want to try anything until I'm sure I'll get it perfectly.
