Since some people rarely leave the adult forum, I posted this there, too.

The 'Fries' of 'Frieslander' rhymes with fleece. It is not the fried potato product. Friesland = a province of the Netherlands.

Hallo! I knew that. Been to NL, but not Friesland....I want to, someday. It's where my dad's ancestors came from.

I visited NL in July 2001: A-dam, R-dam, Hilversum, and Haarlem. Wasn't long enough of a trip to explore the country more.

Wasn't sure how many knew that. (My ancestry is all-Dutch, and my last name is distinctively Frisian). I got little jokes from OneStepBeyond calling me Firestarter and Friar Laurence. And, one Brit from WP - the two of having friended each other on Facebook, didn't know what Friesland was. So, I thought I'd finally make it clear.

I have an online friend, an American, whose surname is Friesland.

My Dad ancestry is Belgian, and he and I took Dutch classes several years ago, so I know about Friesland.

However, this may be better to put in your signature than in a one-time post.

You mean Frisian? Or actually 'Friesland'?

Frieslander, it is considered spamming to post multiple threads on the same topic. next time, please choose one place or the other to post a topic. your other thread has more replies, so i left it open:
