So I heard a disturbing statistic I was hoping some one hear had some insight into. I was talking with a psychiatrist the other day about autism, and she claimed that only 14 percent of autistic college students graduate from college. She didn't remember where she heard this from, although she was pretty confident the source was reputable.

I tried googling a few terms, and couldn't find anything to confirm this. Has anyone else heard this statistic before, and where it may come from?

1) Is it that 14% of all autistics go to and graduate from from college?

2) Or is it 14% of autistics who go to college graduate?

I'm guessing it's #1, which would make the rate of autistics who go to college and graduate higher.

14% still seems kind of low, even for that, though.

^Ack, brain fart -- scratch the above sentence.

P.S. I went to a fru-fru university and graduated.

I don't know, it's probably true.

I know for my specific thing, NVLD (nonverbal learning disorder), we got a very disturbing statistic. NVLD has the highest suicide rate of all learning disorders.

Well I don't think college graduation is something that is going to happen in my life.

I plan on being a part of that 14%. Leaving college is not an option for me.
