Dark Knight Rises (mild spoilers and speculation)

This article (click) over at IGN got me thinking...

The article is a bit of speculation itself, inspired by the news that Dark Knight Rises will take place 8 years after events of The Dark Knight...

Ever since I got the villain list for this movie, I've been asking myself, "why use Bane?"

I mean really, he isn't a bad character, but if you aren't doing Knightfall, what's the point?

But now, with this news that the story takes place so many years in the future...

What if Bane cripples Batman early in the first act and the rest of the story takes place 8 years from now, after his recovery?

It would fit the title, The Dark Knight Rises like a phoenix from the ashes...

I don't know.

The idea appeals to me, but then again, it seems too obvious.


Meh, I'm crazy.
