Is anyone looking forward to christmas day? I am not, can't wait till its over. I am at my mothers and there will be about 20 people here for the day. I cannot spend hours pretending I like it.

How about others?

I don't like Christmas. I believe showing affection towards your family and exchanging gifts is something to be done throughout the year whenever you feel like it, and not any particular compulsory date. Plus, I've got exams coming up in January and must spend most of these days locked up in my room doing revision. Family meetings really split my day and it's harder for me to focus on my responsibility.

Yes I can't wait for the day to be over as I really do not feel the Christmas spirit and I do things all year for the people I care about and a lot of them and even if they don't do anything for me or hurt me (like happened this year) I will still keep doing for them anytime of the year.

I feel almost like I can't do or think about anything else until it's over with. It's a stupid meaningless ritual. It just feels like I have to go through the motions every year and I am so tired of it.

I hate opening presents most of all. Just having people watching my face to see how I react, and knowing they want to see me happy about what they gave me or whatever. It is a horrible experience.

I know its like torture, especially when they bought you something thoughtless or gimick. I don't mind the food, it is usually very good, having a drink is ok. But I don't want to pull crackers, and I don't want to kiss everyone when they arive. I am going to distract my nephews with a computer game.

Christmas with 20 people sounds extremely stressful. At my house, it's just me, my parents, and my aunt and cousin are coming over. If there were 20 people coming, or even worse, if I had to go somewhere else to spend the day with 20 people, I would hate it too.

It was worse 2 years ago, because after spending all day with about 20 people, which I just about managed, I was forced to go to another house and had to meet another 20 people who I hardly knew. Families are just too inconsiderate with me. My head fell off completely.

I don't mind the idea of Christmas if you're religious, but when people who don't believe in god celebrate it, it really annoys me! :x
It's called 'Christ Mass' and if you don't believe in Christ why are you still doing it?

Not to mention once you're an adult you're expected to all give each other equal value presents. For me that just means we have to pay for something we probably didn't want. And if I ask for money people seem to think I suddenly just announced that I'm the devil....
(And don't say christmas is just a time for everyone to exchange presents for the joy it brings either, if that's your reasoning you should do it any time in the year.)

Having grown up in a family environment where I was the only aspie (in a family with fours kids) and my parents were physically and verbally abusive, Christmas is pretty much the worst day of the year. I am almost 32 now and haven't spent Christmas with those monsters in a long time but the day is still tough.

My favorite thing to do is get Indian or Thai food and play Xbox and watch DVDs all day. That seems to really make me feel happy but nothing else works...so far.

In the past I have tried going along with friends' to their families' get-togethers and it invariably ends with me having to take anxiety medication and drink heavily to deal with the fake small-talk, the half-hidden looks people give each other every time I respond inappropriately (in their minds) to a question and the drunken cousins and uncles attempts to grope me. Why couldn't I have been born male? lol

I think Xbox and take-out is healthier for me!

I usually don't hate the Christmas period... but this year... Christmas day will be okay, I will just be with my family, but will sleep at a friend's house for two days (never did it before and they don't know anything about my nutritional problems. I'm dead.), then will be in Germany for 5 days. New places. Too many people. Very high anxiety. Oh f**k. Kill me. Please.

Hum... In French, "Christ"mas = Noël. Not Christ. Can I do it ? :p

Was joking. Seriously, I don't believe in God, my family don't, but we still doing Christmas, because it's somewhat "magic" for child etc... I don't think many people really think about the Christ during Christmas...

There's something so artificial about Christmas. If people matter to you, you should meet up with them throughout the year - not on one specific day. Making one day so important is too much pressure. I'll be thrilled to see the back of it.

I'm glad I share this view with so many on the spectrum. It's one of those things people would yell at me about.

I have about 8 siblings, their kids which makes up 4, my step mother, my sister in law's mother and father, my step mother's mother...ok it's a lot of people...maybe just under 20. Yesterday I discovered my half brother had Apple TV and has access to so many movies and documentaries so if I get overloaded I can just watch it all day.

I haven't thought about the noise - maybe I should? I think I react worse when I don't expect it. Also, my mum guilt tripped me into buying presents when me and my sister said we weren't going to buy presents. I had a meltdown in the shopping centre and ran to a comic book store to calm down. I've been ill for two days now, like really ill, seizures and the worse stomach pain all throughout the day yesterday. Our house was being fumigated and we had about 2 hours to kill and I basically collapsed onto a table in a cafe and was taken to my brother's where I watched Apple TV.

The plus side to being this ill is that people won't try and get me to talk or even stand. I think I might just wrap a blanket over me and watch movies.

Another thing is as a Christian it feels like the loneliest time of year because people are just not celebrating that part any more. I was at a carols by candlelight and people just weren't paying attention or singing along to the songs. I don't mind what religion you have or if you don't believe in anything but another pet peeve of mine is people making jokes about Jesus or just speaking their mind in front of me, like when my brother was criticising a documentary I was watching about Armageddon. Then he gets me watching this astro astrology documentary where the narrator is talking about how deceitful the Bible is. He will not make a non-believer out of me. *Sigh* I need to find a Pentecostal church...

No, not really, but then we generally have a very quiet Christmas with not many people around. We just generally eat a lot and get banjaxed. That's all there is to it.

Is there nowhere you can retreat to? That sounds terrible.

I get a few things for my kid. She already has them. She's not into the whole wrapping thing. We may do something with immediate family for dinner. Otherwise, I hole up in the apartment and try to wait it out. If I have to go shopping I have to restrain myself from doing something rude with those stupid bells.

Just to obtain food, I had to venture into a supermarket today. 8O There were billions of people, all rushing around, noise and movement and smells and... :eew: Total, utter chaos. My nerves are still jangled. The Christmas ideal ought to be Silent Night. That, I could get behind. ;)
