Celtic Punk is one of my favorite genres! Thanks for sharing another band for me to listen to.

Try "Blood or Whiskey" and "Neck."
(I'll not go too far with my thoughts on 'celtic punk' as a specific subgenre.)

I actually thought about the pogues before my last post.
The pogues do deserve credit and sound better than all of these bands.
I wanted to recommend bands that people may not have heard. Everyone familiar with the genre should know the Pogues.
Without traditional Irish folk music we would not have the dubliners or Clancy brother. Without the ramones and the new york punk scene we would not have the sex pistols.

Here is Shane MacGowan other band "the popes". This is one of Shane's more controversial songs. It demonstrate both bigotry and brilliant song writing.

The Pogues were actually credited as the founders of the Celtic punk genre in the 1980s.
The pogues were a London band with a very Irish singer. The band's song are very Irish and many deal with political events in Irish history.
The Scottish are also considered Celtic and they are located on the same side of the Atlantic as the English.
Nearly every one of these Celtic punk bands sound disturbingly similar.
if they created anything original they would probably get grouped into another sub genre or invent one.

Hehe. If the Pogues had been from Glasgow or Dublin then I'd think them slightly more celtic. If they'd been from LA or Chicago, I'd think them quite a bit less.
*clears throat* I shall now sing "Star of the County Down" to the tune of "The Unquiet Grave", to illustrate the true nature of folk music.
