Norton security always scanning my disk

Why does norton security scan my disk about 3 or 4 times a day? It only ever comes up with low risk cookies. I am sick of it. Then when the subscription is almost running out it tries to scare me by saying I had a recent threat to my computer. Anyone else hate security software?

Norton's is garbage. It's the most bloated, annoying, resource-hogging antivirus program out there.

Get rid of it. Even the free ones (AVG, Avira, Avast) are better than Norton's, imo.
