These are just some words that really annoy me when I hear, even though I don't know why: Fun, entertainment, absurd, realistic, and unrealistic. Actually, it matters in context of who says it, usually people around me who don't take the stuff I watch or read seriously. Anyone have words that annoy them?

There are lots of words that make me cringe for no rational reason.

What irritates me, as a pedant, are wrongly pronounced words, like "irregardless" (should be "regardless"), "nuclear" pronounced 'nu-cyu-lar,' and even now "nucleus" pronounced 'nu-cyu-lus,' (should be 'nu-klee-ar', and 'nu-klee-us'), 'should of' ('should have'). I cannot think of others at the moment, but there are many more.

then you'd hate to be around me, i often pronounce words wrong and character names wrong because i have no idea how they are pronounced to begin with.

like fiat the car company name, i have pronounced a ton of car company and car names wrong and i always catch myself doing it.

Relax.

I don't know why, but whenever I hear someone say that word, I get the urge to do this:

Browse.

Genitals.

They just sound unpleasant.

Plus any word or phrase used as a euphamism by people trying to downplay their failures or tell the truth.
For example when a politician or manager says it was "challenging" or "disappointing" or "robust" or they are feeling "passionate".

In fact most management jargon. Like 'proactive', 'think outside the box', 'hit the ground running', 'take that on board' or 'footfall'. Argh.
