I decided a few months ago that I wanted to learn how to play the drums. I knew this was not going to be a cheap hobby so I researched it for 2 mos. to make sure this was something that I could learn (since the last time I played an instrument was in 6th grade.) I ended up buying an electronic kit a couple of weeks ago. I am learning to play through videos on YouTube. Anyone else here a drummer?

7 or 8 years with sticks in my hand. I play mostly metal.

Might I recommend drumlessons.com? They have a forum (that I am on) and quite a few free video lessons that could help you.

I figured out that I like and have a knack for drums about 3yrs ago. It started out playing Rock Band with friends and no one else wanted to play the drums, so I did. And then I decided to get more into it and play the way its meant to be played

Although it seems like a "wrong" way of learning, .......using Rock Band 3. A friend of mine is a music teacher and he said "if it works for you then go ahead".

So I've got the below ddrum DD1 set and a midi adapter to use with the PS3, In addition to the standard.....playing songs there is a practice mode and "learn an instrument-pro drums" tutorials. With the last 2 modes you can slow the tempo to learn easier

and no,... I wont play anything but pro mode expert (every note)

Death metal, deathcore, metal core, black metal, and a helping of thrash.

Lately I've been listening to Hour Of Penance, Behemoth, Belphegor, and some Whitechapel.
