In the light of certain information which has just reached me, the following is possible,
as a conversation for tomorrow.

I saw some Daisy Cutters, but they were packaged up with Depth Charges and Scatter Bombs."

"... or even Armageddon following an Apocalypse Barrage, yes, I know."

"There's always Total Annihilation..."

"That seems a bit much. Bomb Factory Mines and a Missile Attack?"

"Did you notice..."

"I hadn't, till you pointed it out. Now that sounds a little different.
Let's go for a Satanic Desecration or two."

Yes, there is a moderately sensible context.
These are all types of fireworks on the circular included in my local paper this week.

When I use a word it tends to mean something. But are these just labels without content? But they have clearly been picked for their connotation value... but without thought as to what that seems to imply... Oh well, I'm having to adjust to the NT world, again.

That's NT BS in general and bad anglosaxon commercial in special. You can buy the same rockets here, but we would never give them such ridiculous names. Here they're called Chrysanthemum Rocket, Golden Burst, Crackling Silver or something like that.

If they sold dynamite and TNT or C4 the names would be appropriate, but they don't, so they aren't.

Now, I wonder how long it will be before someone decides that those sound like WMDs.

Well, we have been commemorating/celebrating the gunpowder plot for 401 years, so it's not surprising that customs have wandered strangely.

I can imagine that trying to describe each firework as different from the next is a bit of a strain, but this ad did seem over-the-top.
