Thing is, one of my friends told me stimming is extremely pleasurable to them. Nevertheless, I don't feel PLEASURE when I'm stimming. Just plain relief, as if I calm down or something. For instance, when I'm angry, stimming makes me focus on my repetitive act so I lose contact from reality and thus prevent myself from "exploding".
What about you?

Hugs and kisses from hospital! I'll be back home by the end of next week! :D

Stimming provides both pleasure and relief for me. My stims don't change with my mood either.
I hope you feel better too.

Both for me too. I swing back and forth in my computer chair so much, I have to remind myself not to do it at work.

kind of both; stimming is mainly stress relief for me, but stimming while working on my favourite activities or while listening to music increases the pleasure i'm having

I roll the chair around so much I have actually worn the floor down significantly. I also like swinging it back and forth or in circles.

It is both pleasure and relief for me, also.

I'd have to say both for me too, different situations call for different things to be done. Sometimes it's to switch focus when stressed, sometimes it's purely for the sensation that I find so addictive.

Let me be succinct: BOTH.
Definitely pleasurable but also relieves stress.

Sincerely,
Matt

I would say that stimming is necessary for me and something that is on by default. It is also pleasurable. I don't feel like I am using stimming relieve anything though, like anger or anxiety.

personally, I think it is sort of like rebooting your system. You overload and then you need to restart :) I don't really look at it in any other way nowadays

I find stimming relieving and soothing, but sometimes it's also pleasurable. I guess it depends on why I need/want to stim. Most of the time I stim to deal with sensory issues or physical discomfort or to soothe myself if I'm sad or upset. Sometimes I stim from excitement or happiness though and that's when it's more of a pleasure than relief.

Both. I've taken to rocking back and forth in my computer chair the past few weeks, and it's definitely a pleasant sensation, and I find it keeps me calm.

Both. Also something I don't always notice I'm doing.

I would definitely say both, although not at the same time. I might stim at one point for relief, at another for pleasure.

It's just something I do often that is semi-conscious. Like shuffling my feet under the table or grinding my teeth. I do this really odd sucking sound with my tongue in my mouth when I sleep too.

I hope you're getting better and I'll talk to you when I return from Tenerife. :)

Having given the subject some more thought, it also helps me focus. That can mean memory or thought. Or just relieve the sensory input. As a child it was also a gateway into my inner world. If that makes any sense?
Hey, does anyone know if it releases endorphins for us? I ask because when I used to run distance, I found I hardly needed it. Now its making a comeback & I'm approaching the half century mark.

Sincerely,
Matthew
