I'm not surprised. I'm a heavy, heavy guy and I like my scran (and lots of it!) but some of the portion sizes on offer at a lot of U.S. diners are utterly ridiculous.

I wonder if the man that got a heart attack after eating those unhealthy foods from the Heart Attack Grill has serious health problems such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or something.

Well there is some truth there... I read some studies that highly fatening foods can cause an instant effect on the cardiovascular system causesing the artery walls to quickly loose elastisitiy...it takes up to 24 hours for this effect to wear off. So if he had plaque in his arteries then when/if his arteries suddenly became rigid...after eating his triple bypass burger...that makes him much more prone to a heart attack.

Out of curosity, I wonder if they have a burger called "the widowmaker"?? If there is plaque buildup in one specific major artery going into the heart....when it causes a heart attack, most people dont survive it.

Many restaurants have sized up their beef portions and everything else to sell more hamburgers and other fattening foods because, in this country, bigger is often better. Or so I"m told.

I really dont know whats up with US portion sizes. Most americans dont even know what a proper portion size is. Part of the success of weight watchers is they teach correct portion sizes. All that counting is anoying though.

The big portion sizes were originally supposed to be so you would have a lot left over to take home with you. It was popular in American culture to "doggie bag" left overs when going out to eat. Then people forgot the purpose and thought they were supposed to eat it all in one sitting.

About the article, he deserved that heart attack. Seriously, people need to loose some weight and have self control. Don't eat American food. If I lost forty pounds by changing my habits then anyone could.
