I am diagnosed with Asperger's. If I would have been able to stay in college I would be finishing my first of two PHDs. This year would have been a PHD in psycology with a minor in special education.

How did you with ASD deal with student life?

Ie, did you decide it sucked and went studying all hours of the day?

school has always been hell for me. i never did well in any kind of school. i sorta envy those of the hypersuccessful aspies on WP who sailed through school as though it were like falling off a log. i wish i had their right stuff and/or their abundant fundage they had available to fund their studies.

School was always really lonely for me e.g. I had few friends, etc. so I distracted myself from the emotional isolation by literally throwing myself into studies. The more difficult the subject, the better for me. I also sleep only a few hours per night so I have much more time than most to learn new material.

That being said, I was extraordinarily fortunate to have been born into a family with substantial financial resources so material survival was not an immediate concern. My situation would have been completely different if I hadn't had access to the financial resources of my parents.

I'm not diagnosed with AS thou I'm sure I have it. I was diagnosed with dyslexia & ADHD since I was in kindergarten but I also have an extremely rare low vision disorder that was not recognized till my senior year of HS. I had NO desire at all to get any further education because I struggled in most of my classes & with most other school stuff. Things might would of went a lot better for me if I had been diagnosed with AS & my vision when I started school & would have received the rite accommodations

I was diagnosed with Asperger's, and I got my G.E.D. Actually, I quit going to school regularly in the sixth grade. I didn't attend long enough to learn much of anything, so now I'm heading back to school in a month on the long journey of getting my phd.

Living life without an education is really, the worst feeling in the world. I would implore anyone to look into bettering themselves through schooling.

I hope 8 years down the road, I can change my answer to phd. Fully functioning, successful, artistic young lady, with Asperger's. And it didn't slow her down.

i lack the genes to adapt well to america's school system. so everything i know, i've had to learn on my own, as the schools were no help. the public library was for me, a far better "teacher."

being able to negotiate the scholastic hazards with dyslexia must mean you have a genius IQ/steel trap memory, no having to write stuff down for you. :wtg:
