One of my friends who works in the medical field told me yesterday regarding the subject of human height "if one is over 6ft4, its almost a slow death sentence".

in a bit more detail what does he mean by "slow death sentence".

sorry as well if i am offending or upsetting anybody who is over 6ft4 that is reading this

What part of the 'medical field' does he work in?

He probably means something like: Being tall comes with certain health issues that negatively impact life expectancy.

It seems rather strongly worded, just like saying that smoking is like a slow death sentence.

And in that vein, living itself is that as well.

@Jamesy: Why don't you ask him, instead of expecting us to know what he was thinking?

Reynart so basically a tall person should do there best too keep healthy while they are alive. if your 6ft5 and do unhealthy things then you will meet your maker alot quicker then someone who is who is medium sized like 5ft10 and has the same lifestyle habits perhaps?

Your forget though as well that smoking is by 'choice' how tall you are when you are a fully grown an adult is not by choice. a smoker could easily get out of a slow death sentence if he kicked the habit. the only way a 6ft7 guy can properly get out of his prediciment would be if he smashed up his back and lost 4 inches of height in a car accident which unfourtantly might result in death as well.

Or just tell your friend to shove off, as living in itself is a slow death sentence.

What he means is that shorter people have more of a chance of living longer.

Oh not at all, I'm only 5'9, I just don't like "professionals" making big blanket statements like that. there's so many variables involved in how long a person lives, that talking about height like that is just idiotic. I might as well just go and say "being black is a slow death sentence" then bring up a bunch of statistics about how blacks don't live as long, bring up sickle cell, etc, but in the end, it's irrelevant.
