Obviously you can be an Aspie and have high blood pressure, diabetis, HIV, Ebola, whatever.

I am wondering what meds do you take specifically to control Aspie symptoms, and how helpful do you find them?

Currently, I take the SSRI Paxil and Xanax. Xanax seems to reduce my anxiety. Paxil I think is useless.

I'm taking Effexor right now, it's basically to make me calmer in social situations and helps me to "lighten up" a little as I can have a tendancy to be very serious (making the social anxiety that much worse... :( and vicious circle...)

I hate it though, frankly, as it makes me feel slightly manic at over 75 mgs and my doctor always seems to want to push it up (that or give me something to counteract it... really illogical, for a doctor.)

It also has sexual side effects and really, I'm not the most romantic / cuddly person in the world to begin with.

I actually have to goo see my doc real soon as the presciption is running out and you get real dizzy if you don't take it for a few days with regularity... God knows I bump into enough stuff as it is, I certainly don't need that.

I meditate to relieve anxiety and depression - Its free

Also, meditation rid of my 3 year, everyday heart burn which no medication came CLOSE to (see anxiety). Thats how I know it worked - I had it everyday then, since meditating daily, nothing.

I smoke pot when I want to be alone with my thoughts as it helps tremendously. Helps focus my energy to my internal interests (following the paths of governmen... it doesnt matter, just know I am able to focus on it beyond my imagination). Oh, btw, not to sound like a stereotypical stoner, but I do pay heavy attention to the news and Marijuana is not anywhere close to 90% of the medications out there, especially for those with Alzheimers. Marijuana is a plant I am paying CLOSE attention to. If you think I'm nuts, pay attention to the side effects of 'Viagra' then find conclusive ones on Marijuana. Natural remedies are shining brighter to me everyday

When it comes to science and cures, I dont like it.

I take no medications for my HFA, I developed my own mental strategies to contain my behaviors, not to mention getting older has helped me a lot. I find medications for depression and anxiety tend to corrupt my thought patterns and after a while, I somehow become immune to their effects, making me worse than better.
