I've been on Lexapro and Klonopin, but I stopped both of them cold turkey. The Lexapro was incredibly dangerous for me because it started to cause me to lose self-awareness and the ability to follow instructions. One day, I was driving and there was a sign for a detour (which I totally saw), but it never occurred to me to follow it. Thankfully, there was a police officer there who stopped me, otherwise I would have gone head on into opposing traffic. 8O

So yeah, no more meds for me. Withdrawal from Lexapro was absolute hell, but I got through it and I haven't taken anything since.

I went on Paxil for about a month. I gained ten pounds, totally killed sex for me, and I could not stay awake. My young child got out because I nodded off on the couch, which resulted in a frantic call to the police when I realized what happened. He had decided to take off on his bike to" get some hamburgers". Everything turned out okay, but those pills hit the garbage quick, and I felt like the worst mother in the world for a bit there.

Oh, lord.

I was on Prozac by seven.
Middle school was Paxil, I believe.
There was a whole cocktail that I don't remember in high school- Wellbutrin was one, I know.
Cue college and a bipolar diagnosis- with that came Lamictal.
Had a major health scare and became near dissociative, so my parents dragged me to a shrink and had me drugged up yet again- I was on 3 then that I remember, one being Klonopin. I gained about 55 lbs in a year, and slept 20 hours a day.
No more drugs for me. My mom recently suggested that I take some, for anxiety, and I said hell to the NO. :)

Citalopram. They were going to lower my dose and put me on Mirtazapine, but they didn't want to do that when my self-harming started again. I've been waiting to see a therapist for 6 months.

How did you feel when you stopped taking Klonopin? I find that when I stop taking my Klonopin cold turkey I get really jumpy and anxious and shakey. It's freaking crazy. Benzos are so addicting. I take them 3 times a day because my anxiety is so bad.

I've taken most of these, plus a few more that weren't listed, like Norpramine and Trazadone (Tri-cyclics which are not prescribed much anymore) and the MAO Inhibitor Parnate. I haven't been prescribed any tranquilizers. With my depression symptoms, I DON'T need to be any more tranquil!

Ritalin was the most wonderful thing in the world...for about a week. EVERYTHING WAS WONDERFUL AND I LITERALLY FELT BULLET PROOF! And then it just made me irritable and hyper, and irritable and hyper is no way to be when you work in a 10' X 10' cubicle. Anyway, I stopped Ritalin when I realized I was just getting high on speed, and the doctor agreed with my decision. Addiction is an issue in my family, so I am quite wary of it.

I am currently on Zoloft and Welbutrin. Doing okay.

Citalopram, fluoxetine and mirtazapine. The latter was the only one that helped; SSRIs make me worse.

I forgot to mention that I'm currently on Inderal/Propranolol but I'm not on it for a psych reason(I'm on it for a tremor disorder) & I haven't noticed any mental effects from it.
