Picked up my ADHD medication today.

I can feel the effect already and it's great :!:

The inner restlessness and noise is subdued and I feel calm despite some stressful things going on around me that would normally send my anxiety through the roof.

I was hoping that ADHD medication would be the final piece of my puzzle and this is very encouraging.

Have been on Lexapro for the last 5 months, for dysthymia and low level anxiety, which has led to big improvements to the quality of life.

I stopped drinking alcohol around 8 months ago and have recently cut down my coffee intake drastically.

I recently read that sugar and caffeine can trigger the release of dopamine in the brain, which probably explains my previously very high coffee intake and regular intake of alcohol, which is itself use to self-medicate for anxiety.

Being calm is something I could really get used to :D
