This helps me, I dont know if it would help any one else but I pile the most heavy blankets I can find and I put them on top of me. Some thing about the prusure on me helps me get to sleep faster. Not sure why it helps but it really does. The only bad part is I get kinda of hot and some times they fall off in the middle of the night.

I'm getting a weighted duvet and I'm hoping it will have similar effect minus the heat. I've always had trouble sleeping.
Was the effect immediate for you or did it take a few nights/weeks?

This works for me too! I used my heavy blanket that I slept under when I was a kid. I couldn't believe that it worked so well. For me, it worked right away.

I hope it'll work for me as well. On the other hand; I've been trying to find a solution to my sleeping problems my entire life, I'll feel rather silly if said solution turns out to be such a simple one. : D tsk tsk

There is some type of blanket that is made to be heavy for reasons such as that (advertised for autism). I was talking longer to fall asleep than I used to, around 30 or 40 minutes when I used to be able to fall asleep under 20. So I bought a memory foam gel infused cluster pillow. It usually costs 50 dollars but was half off and we had a 30% off coupon so I bought it for 20.

I was just thinking about getting a weighted blanket.

I have a heavy blanket in winter that makes me fall asleep quicker.

I've been having lots of sleeping issues lately. I think it's because I increased and then decreased my ADHD meds.

Yes, I do seem to prefer a covering when sleeping. Unfortunately, when the temps get warm, then I can't stand the heat, and have trouble sleeping either way. If I get too warm while covered I will usually wake up, without having slept enough, so I will be tired. If I manage not to wake up until sleeping longer, then I will have a big headache from being over heated. :( Can't win in warmer weather. :(

I do try to dress less warmly for bedtime in warmer weather (night shirt), so that I can have at least a sheet over me most times. Occasionally, though it will get so hot and humid here, even with the windows open, that I will be too hot to sleep no matter what I do. Yes, I know a cold shower will cool me off, but it will also make me less sleepy. I prefer to save that for when I am trying to stay awake in the warm weather. You wouldn't think it could get that hot and humid here (mountains in the north east USA), but it does sometimes. Fortunately, when I open windows on all four sides of my trailer and keep the end room doors open, I get great four way circulation, and don't often need AC. Just as well, since it is broken. Had it fixed once, but it broke after a couple of days. It is on the south side with no awning over it, so it kept overheating. No point in fixing or replacing it for just a few AC type days a year. I have several industrial fans I use instead, and I will take cold showers, drink cold liquids, wear a night shirt, and use ice packs. I've managed that way since I moved in 6 & 1/2 years ago. The four way window circulation really does help a lot, as do the fans. I have one of the fans in here (home office), one for the far end of the trailer, and one for the living room, and kitchen area. Also, the kitchen has an overhead fan/light combo.

If you are bothered by being too warm under a covering, try a cool shower before bed.

One problem I have with covering is heat, which I get sensitive to when I am trying to sleep. I deliberately keep my room below room temperature at least at ALL TIMES to makes sure I can sleep well in a comfortable temperature. An odd thing is that I can't really sleep without some sort of cover, even if the temperature is high and I need to cool down, I nee a cover over me for comfort. I end up in a paradox D:

I can sleep without covers, but it feels funny. In warm weather I usually use a sheet only. In the cold times I use a sheet plus a quilt. I have a lot of sensory stuff going on with me so I do best sleeping in undershorts with light bed covers.

I usually try to sleep on my side. But if that doesn't work and I can't get sleepy, or I have trouble falling to sleep, I turn on my back instead and put my hand on my chest and count heartbeats. I usually fall off to sleep before I get to 1,000.

Insomnia is the WORST! I used to have it regularly, but now that I'm in better health, it's only a few times a month.

I can't sleep with just a sheet (even on the hottest summer day) I need at least 1 heavy blanket to feel comfortable. I also suffer from tinnitus (hear noises that aren't really there) which keeps me up at night unless I have a fan or nature sounds for 'white noise.'
