For me, swimming is the workout. :D

It depends on what workouts you are doing and generally what works for you. I know a lot of people like to get their body warmed up with cardio, and really get the blood flowing before lifting, for them it is better to lift that way. Some people say no, and prefer cardio after lifts because the cardio will tire them out before lifting.

back when i lived within driving distance of a public pool, i much preferred doing all my sweating before i hopped into the pool.
