You Dyslexic?

People with AS are more likely to be visual learners and I believe this often interfere with the ability to spell that well. I think that many people with AS are more likely to be dyslexic. Are any of you ladies also dyslexic too?

Nope, quite the opposite. I was reading / writing French and English by the age of 4.
Still obsessed with language and words, too.

I can read perfectly well, but I have lousy keyboard skills. I always have to look at what I'm typing, and then go back and chack it.

You didn't "chack" it it enough...

Very bad speller I have to look words up for ever post are spend alot time thinking of
words I can spell.

I must have learned words the ideal way by their sound but thats all I know. I use big
complex words in my speech and can read them but rarely can spell them.

I reverse letters in my typing, I use words that are close to sounding the same when
I ment to use another, I have to use memory games to learn spelling or I forget
them. Simple words like "beleive" yes that was my first guess now googling it
Believe cool I see I was close. That rule i before e except v I never get right. I
wanted to use believe in alot of my latest post but did not because I was too lazy to
look up the spelling.

I dont always record things accurately when they are dictated to me.. I dont know what that counts as... Sometimes my thoughts come out in the wrong order, as well..

However, I am dyspraxic.

That rule has helped me a lot....wish I knew more rules like that.

I have always loved reading and words but have a huge problem with vowels....or if a word needs two or one SS or LL's,Before spell check(which I love),I would often have to "dumb down" my vocabulary to try and match my poor spelling.I often would get an A on school papers based on their concepts but then be marked down to a B or C because of spelling and grammer.I think part of the problem happens when I try and "sound a word out"....most of my language came from reading a word not hearing it...I have a very poor memory,so I would never remember how the word looked.I still dont understand how I can know what a word means when I look at it (reading) but have no idea how to spell it,but I hear that is common.In school my grammar and sentence structure was much better but I have regressed over the years by lack of use of the "rules".

My most annoying habit,of late,is my run on sentences and a nasty habit of using "" "" and ( ) and these.......it makes it difficult for others to read(my apologies to all)....but I think it is some kind of internal symbol for the pauses I hear in my head as I type out my thoughts....." " especially because I dont think the word I am using is the exact meaning I am looking for when describing something but the closest word I can find or a word that is often used by others(I think inaccurately)to "mean" something that it doesn't EXACTLY mean.....I believe it is a function of my overly fussy literalism?

No i am far from dyslexic. English and other languages have always been a strong point (I effortlessly got A grades for English, French and German at O Level). I am also a totally visual thinker so I don't think they can be mutually exclusive!

‘I’ before ‘e’ except after ‘c’ and when sounding like ‘a’ like ‘neigbor’ and ‘weigh’ and on weekends and holidays and all throughout May when you’ll always be wrong no matter what you say.

I can read perfectly well and was reading in kindergarden and reading stories out louad to my first grade class. I however constantly reverse the order of letters especially at the start of a word or write the letters themselves backwards. I also do this in math with numbers.
I can see that the letters are reversed or backwards and that the numbers are backwards if I reread what I wrote but while I am writing them it looks normal to me.

I have had people tell me that this is and is not dyslexia.

I get something similar often but its always with numbers and only when writing.

If I read off 6482 and start to write it down Ill always put the second number first. Im not sure what I would write if I continued though because I always notice it but I think Ill just leave off the first digit.

Ill think ok 6.. *hand writes 4* *looks at it suspiciously* *slaps mutinous appendage*

Happens almost every time. Not really dyslexia just a quirk I guess.

Nope, although I do transpose digits, like 3492 would read as 3942 sometimes. (It is only frustrating because I'm usually not sure when it happens). It probably has something to do with my vision, however.

Yes I am apraxic and have CAPD and poor fine motor skills which effects my handwriting. so I have to be dyslexic. I often make clumsy seplling mistakes (see! just like that I really meant spelling) and leave out some of the most important key words in a sentence like "not".
