My favourite ship is The Bounty. James Cook sailed it to Canada in the 1700s. I even had the change to go on it and look around at Expo 86. As you can see, I like pirate ships the best.

Cargo... Makes me think of limbo for some reason.

My favorite ship is the Black Pearl, because Jack Sparrow was the captain of it. It was a pirate ship. :)

I'm partial to brigs, brigantines, sloops, cutters, schooners, etc ... basically the smaller, faster ships of the age of sail. These tended to fill all the roles you've described.

I live in a maritime city, so I  all types of maritime craft. :D
I  watching ships and boats travelling along the River Mersey.
The best ships IMO are cruise ships there going to be a regular sight again in my city 8)

OH BTY here is a world famous ship (well technically its a boat) for you

These were known as "whalebacks" and only existed on the Great Lakes. They are not submarines but the hull design did influence the earliest submarines of the 20th century.

I was really reluctant to say Pirate since they've become so trendy, but in reality I love ferries and riverboats have been an obsession in the past. My first ever trip to Disneyland I did every boat ride except the submarines, they even had the speedboats you could drive yourself. But yeah I like stuff you can get up and walk around on

I love tall ships, so I voted pirate. We have a tall ship show almost every year where I live. One of my favorite events of the summer.

@ Edgewaters, so which one's the Edmund Fitzgerald? :D

Those are more generally known as 'lakers' aren't they? the bottom one looks an awful lot like a container rig

All whalebacks are lakers but not all lakers are whalebacks. The bottom one is a container ship, just it has a whaleback hull; the middle one is a whalebacked cruise ship. The top one I'm not sure, I'd guess maybe a whaleback mail carrier or light cargo craft.
