I haven't actually seen any of the episodes, but what I've heard of them, probably either Picard or Data.

I like Picard, Troi and Data equally, but I chose Data.

I'd say Picard or Data. I didn't vote on this one because I don't have one particular fav. character from that series. (Although I do like it.)

Barclay wasn't all that important of a character. I did kind of like him though.

BROCCOLI! I'd almost forgotten about him :D
I started rewatching the whole TNG series a few weeks back and Worf's restrained reactions really make the character. A decision is made, everyone sets off to do what they were asked to do, and the camera cuts to Worf so he can express his displeasure with a little lip-twitch and eye roll. Lots of fun :)

True, but if you tried to list all minor characters, albeit those who appeared in multiple episodes, it would take forever. There are many others that could have been listed too.

Nobody listed Q either.

The Next Generation worked cast worked well as a TV series, but I think the flaws as pretty apparent well they moved into motion pictures. With the Original Series, while unquestionably (IMO) the storytelling was of generally of a lower quality, you had a strong core three to base the series around. With TNG, this was not the case, and combined with the attempts to partially run the franchise by Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner you got the "Data and Picard Show" for four releases (only the first two of which were financial successes, and the third of which I despised).

Barclay ABSOLUTELY has to be in the poll. There's no other character on any TV show of any kind that even comes close to describing the way I feel.

Riker was always my favorite. In 7th grade, when I was forced to play an instrument at my school, I selected the trombone because Riker played one.

I always wished I could be a guy like Riker, but instead, I am much more like Data or Barclay. :)

According to Dwight Schultz himself, he's quite Barclay-ish in real life. :) When asked which of his characters he relates most to, he says Murdock is who he'd like to be, but Barclay is closer to who he really is.
