My boyfriend LOVES horror movies. But we've watched so many that its hard to find good ones now. He likes it mainly because he can guess the plot and there is the occasional twist making him wrong at times, I suppose its mentally stimulating for him. So anything with a good twist would be awesome.

Any suggestions?

Secret Window is my favorite horror movie, mainly because Johnny Depp is in it. There's a twist at the end that your boyfriend likely won't see coming.

Not sure if this counts, but Shutter Island was f__king unnerving at points.

Shutter Island is great, but I don't know if I would call it horror. More of a psychological thriller. But still a very good movie.

As for Butters, does he like horror comedies? I literally just posted about some great horror comedies. Here it is if you want to take a look:

Has he seen The Last Exorcism? Really enjoyed that movie and loved the twist. I suppose he's already seen Jacob's Ladder (not...really horror though), the first two Hellraiser movies and the Thing. Those are some of my favorite scary movies.

Session 9 has a really good twist too, but he's probably seen it.

Shouldn't this be in a different section of the site.

Re-Animator is a real gem, and so is Dagon, and Cthulhu, if your boyfriend is into H.P. Lovecraft.
Angel Heart is a great horror flick, as is The Beast Within.
If he goes for sci/fi mixed with his horror, I'd suggest John Carpenter's The Thing, Event Horizon, or the original Alien.

Some European ones (that are less known):

Norway: Cold Prey 1 and 2, Troll Hunter, Dead Snow, Next Door (amazing twist, much better if you don't read anything about this one so you don't know what to expect)
Sweden: Let me in (the original one), Frostbitten (horror comedy, I love this one)
Germany: Pandorum
Danmark: Vikaren (this one is for children, but quite nice though)
France: Martyrs
Spain: The Orphanage, REC and REC2, Promocion fantasma (this is a high school comedy with ghosts, but it's a very funny one)
Ireland: Wake Wood
UK: Shaun of the Dead and Lesbian Vampire Killers (comedies), Dead Set (a BBC serie about zombies, a very good one), The descent, Dog Soldiers, Eden Lake, The Children (don't read anything about this one, just watch it), 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, The Hole

Best countries to look for horror movies, UK and Scandinavian countries, though Spain is rising.

I'm not big into horror, but Event Horizon is by far my favorite horror movie...super scary!
