What's the best band/artist you've ever seen live?

Mine was The Pogues in 1988 at Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama. I'd never heard them before (or any Irish music, really). It was apocalytic for me.

Not into them at all, but at Woodstock '94, Nine Inch Nails blew me away.

Aerosmith.

I saw them back in the summer of 2010 in Bucharest, my hometown. It was such a beautiful concert, I immediately fell in love with their music (music is one of my special interests, so you can imagine the impact it had on me). Those two hours were magical to me, it felt as if I was transported into another time and place.

I was depressed and generally anxious before going to that show. I was going through a rough time in my life. And the Aerosmith concert made it all right for me. It made me so happy, that it helped cure my depressed mood and my anxieties. For a long time.

Oh and I developed a HUGE special interest with all things Aerosmith

Sting at Madison Square Garden. This was the '...Nothing Like The Sun' tour. I sang so much my voice was sore for days.

KISS at Madison Square Garden, This was the Dynasty Tour. First concert I'd ever seen. From the floor, you could actually feel the heat from the flashpods. Needless to say, I was blown away by all the lights and spectacle.

either bruce springstein or billy joel. my favorite artist is paul simon, but these two put on a livelier show.

The Guarneri string quartet twice at tanglewood and once in brattleboro,vt

I haven't been to many concerts, but the best band I've ever seen live is Streetlight Manifesto. It was also my first mosh pit, and it was fun as hell.

I'm only 16 but I've been to 10-15 concerts so far.

My top bands have to be Crossbreed, (un)Said, a local act, Skindred, Sevendust (seen 'em multiple times, they never disappoint) and Hurt.

Honorable mention: The Devil Wears Prada. If I liked the band that show would've been insane with as much energy as there was. Sadly I had to sit through their garbage before Killswitch Engage...awesome energy they had onstage though.

Two of the most intense shows that I've been to were Nick Turner's Space Ritual in 1995, and The Legendary Pink Dots on 1997.

Either Rise Against or Hinder. I love both bands, and both have a great stage presence.

Grinspoon /28 days opening act was Butterfly effect.

Everyone knows my favourites, but I think the most impressive artists to say I've seen would be Michael Jackson and New York Dolls. MJ because everyone knows who he is, and the New York Dolls because they're the oldest band I've seen.

I know someone on a Manics forum who'd seen Joy Division, now that's something I'm jealous of.

Edit: Forgot to mention seeing Ozzy.

The best for me has to be Tool. I'd been hearing for years that Tool's live shows were fantastic experiences, and when I finally got the chance to see them in 2006 on their 10,000 Days tour, they did not disappoint. Especially during their performances of "Wings For Marie/10,000 Days" and "Lateralus", when they busted out the laser show.

Runner-up for me was any of the bands I saw at Lollapalooza '03. Pretty sick line-up that year-- particularly Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, Audioslave, and Jane's Addiction. And, I got a handshake and a signed Axis of Justice poster from Tom Morello!
