That awkward moment when you're at a social gathering and the talkative people or person leaves the room so all of the quieter people are left and all of a sudden it's really quiet and you either try and make conversation or say you're going to get a drink just to get out of the situation.

Or the awkward moment when you're in a quiet group and you leave the room and they all start talking again. And then you come back and they all shut up again. They weren't talking about me--I could hear them. If they were talking about me I could understand them shutting up when I came back. I don't go around those people anymore.

That awkward moment when you're in a meeting at work and you reply to someone's question and conclude with a monotonic "OK?" and the person you have replied to is perplexed by the meaning of that "OK?" and laughingly notes to everyone in attendance that "It was the way he said 'OK' !"

hat awkward moment when you've paid for an item, leave the store's counter to go home, then get called back to the counter by the clerk because you forgot to take your item. Embarrassing.

One time, I had to get my sim card sorted and in order for that to happen, I had to top up with at least £5. He sorted the card out for me and then I walked off. I was then called back. He said "excuse, you need to pay".

That awkward moment when you go to a friends party and are having a great time dancing only to have your ex show up when your friend didn't even tell you he was coming...

I think it's worse reversed, when you tell a joke and no one laughs.

Where you refer to the suburb "Wallarawang" as "Wallerawank".

The awkward moment when you've been hanging around with someone all year and realized you still don't know the guy's name.

(I'm not THAT bad at remembering names. I hung out with him, but I rarely ever joined in the conversations.)

That awkward moment when someone says something to you, being sarcastic, but you took it literally and have to walk away so they won't see you cry because you got your feelings hurt. Happens more than I'd like to admit.
