Hey,

So I'm Irish, I'm an Aspie. I'm self diagnosed. I did come very close to getting a professional diagnosis. I went to a psychiatric assessment where I was told I "probably have Aspergers" but the psychiatrist said he wasn't comfortable giving an official diagnosis because it's "so hard to diagnose". But I know I have it. I fit every symptom except the one where Aspies are supposed to be good at maths. I suck at math.

My father told me about Aspergers Syndrome. He heard it on a radio show and realized that it described me perfectly. We both always knew there was something a little different about me. I'm really not like other NT people.

I read up on Asperger's and suddenly everything made sense. My entire childhood, why I fall apart in interview situations and can't get a job/hold on to one once I've managed to get one.

Anyway...hi to everyone.

Hello MercuryRose, welcome to WrongPlanet! You should fit right in, hopefully (trying not to touch a few scars after heated debates with fellow WrongPlanet members.)...

Believe me, only a few Aspies are good at maths. I'm pretty good, but seriously, I'm NOT brilliant. Every Aspie/Autie has different talents in different areas.

P.S WOOHOO, love the Irish! I'm party Irish myself and I've loved my trips to that country so much.

Welcome to WP and fear not you are not the only Aspie who can't do math.

Hey I am Irish a bit and I am a bit new to this sight as well. I have. always felt out of place in the world. My parents diagnosed me through a doctor but at times I don't feel like I have aspergers syndrome. other. Times I feel like I have though.

Welcome to WP, MercuryRose. Hope you like it here. Whereabouts in Ireland are you from? :)

How can you be "a bit Irish"? It's like being a bit pregnant isn't it? You either are or you aren't.

It's a lovely island, isn't it? I've been six times so far over the last three years.

I'm part irish, but I don't think that I'm pregnant though. My mother was from Dunganon county tyrone. I also lived in Strabane. A town i call the two p's. Pubs and Pound shops. There was nothing else there.

Welcome to the site. I only joined myself yesterday. That last statement sounds like I have a siamese twin, I don't have a siamese twin...
