Does anyone here write short stories as a hobby? I would like to read some short stories written by WP members. I am not in the mood for the sanitized and over edited stuff at the bookstore. Please reply to this post if you have something you would like to share with me. You may also send me a PM.

Thank you very much.

Use to write poetry when I was a teen to cope with my depression, but currently don't write any stories, I use to write on gather.com and have people look at what I write and make friends kinda like Facebook or MySpace, get points and earn free gift cards - target, starbucks, cvs, home depot, etc, it was a lot of fun I need to get back into that, writing is what bells me vent during stressful times and helps express my feelings when I'm excited about something. I find I can express myself better through writing my thoughts down than verbally, I lose my train if thought a lot or get nervous or anxious or too excited and people can't understand me because I talk too fast.

I'm in the midst of a novel primarily starring autistic characters, but I don't pass my writing around often, as I hope to publish it someday.

For the record, we have an art, writing, and music forum here:

I don't hand my stuff out. Not because I want to be published, but because it's just not very good.

My short stories are at Booksie. Some titles are "The Haunting in Belltown" and "The Candlestick Kid."

I used to write a lot. I don't anymore. Part of the problem was that I couldn't even get friends or family to read what I wrote, so I just let it go by the wayside. But I may start up again.

" I am not in the mood for the sanitized and over edited stuff at the bookstore." ?
Well, JonAZ, this is the furthest thing from that. I call it something like "random, fun writing". Kind of like my random scribbling of imaginary animals and patterns when I'm bored...
....
The walls were an opaque white, steady, blank, quiet. I took the door resting in the center of the room and dropped downwards. My desire to move inside of that quietness led me to yet another room of exactly the same aspects. From this point, I took a series of doors. All of them led me in different directions, but I always found myself in the same white room. I stared at the white wall. I pressed my body against the wall, arms outstretched. I thought I was the wall, but a bird mistook me for a tree. Landing on my arms it started speaking to me. I missed the words, entranced and horrified by the feathers that dropped pathologically from his body. What followed was frantic attempt to pick them up. This, of course, convinced the bird that I was not a tree. I was only able to reattach one feather before it took off into the emptiness of the air. The feathers fell through the space between the wall and floor just as water would.
....

I can do worse... But you asked for it.

I write stories. Most of them are short, but they're almost entirely all for adults, so I'm not sure about posting a link.
