Putting all the politics aside. I am interested to hear from others about how emotionally they react to the Olympic experience (I'm talking elation or joy here, not revulsion or indifference)

Do any of you cry with the emotion of it all? or if not are you able to internally experience your emotion, ie heart beating with excitement and elation.

Perhaps the drama of Olympics does not rock your boat, but how about other dramas such as films, or music?

I am interested to hear about aspies who have raw emotional reactions to witnessing others emotional expressions.

I saw Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close for the first time the other night and got a good cry out of it.

I cried too, vanhalenkurtz. Recently I watched One Night, a British Drama about all these different peoples lives that interconnect after a situation. I watched the Alfie episode and cried.

I've completely ignored the Olympics this year. All I've seen of it is it on mute TV screen because someone else in the house watches it and it's constantly on that channel.

I haven't had much use for the Olympics this time around, so I really can't say. However, I have reacted strongly to certain films with emotional moments in them. My list includes: "Saving Private Ryan", "Schindler's List", and "As Good As It Gets", to name a few. The thing with "As Good As It Gets" is that I saw some of myself in the lead character. He wasn't a bad guy but lacked the ability to deal with certain situations so he sabotaged himself rather than having to deal with them. I have done that so many times over the years that I have lost count.

The other two films I mentioned were entirely too real. They depicted the true horrors of WWII. I was able to hold it together right until the end of "Saving Private Ryan". If you have ever seen the film then you know the scene I am talking about. It got to most of the people who saw it, so I think my response was a common one.

I don't really react emotionally very often, my emotions are very blunted, and I have quite bad alexithymia so even if I am feeling something I don't know what it is, or what to do with it or anything.

But the films Lilo and Stitch, Lilya 4Ever, 나무없는 산 (Treeless Mountain) and Bastard Out of Carolina made me cry.

I am mostly neutral on the Olympics. I like watching the men's gymnastics and the archery.

I get very excited when Canada wins a medal and I cheer with happiness.

I don't give a damn about any of it. I don't own a TV because everything on it is boring.

I find the Olympics interesting to watch here and there but don't really feel emotional about it. Whoever wins wins and whoever loses loses...
The only feeling I really get in watch is a feeling like I want to get up and move.

Well, I don't go out my way to watch any of the Olympic events, really, but one time I happened to be having lunch while they streamed live the 62kg weightlifting event, and everytime Óscar Figueroa managed to lift a weight everyone at the school cafeteria would clap and cheer loudly, and I was happy to join in. He got silver, but I can't help but wonder how the mood would have been had he gotten gold.
