My Username says it all; I was born and raised in the City-State of Antarctica and I am politically an anarchist. I'm new to the site, in fact, this is my first post, and thus I don't know anyone. If you want to chat I'm usually avaliable after 4:30, except on wendsdays and sundays (Church) so you can contact me then. I also play DnD, most major game titles, and work with paranormal beings as an intern. not much else to say.

Welcome to WrongPlanet! :)
I see you have set your profile to "Always show my email address" = YES rather than NO. This means your email address is visible to every spammer and scammer on the internet who will take joy in filling your inbox with crap. If you don't want this to happen I suggest you change the setting to NO before the spammers harvest your email address.

Thanks TallyMan, I didn't think about that before I clicked it. Already gotten some spam, so I better start damage control.

Anarchist?

Please define your flavour of said ideology, so I know whether to shake a clenched fist at you, or nod approvingly.

I'm no terrorist if that's what you mean. I believe in an ultimate goal of social responsibility leading to the future development of a society based on unfettered freedom and set moral ideals. More or less, I dislike the government, and I believe in living in a way that does not require laws or governing. Don't blame you for wondering though; most anarchists today are foolish twelve-year-olds bypassing a phase or bald guys in masks trying to break the bat. At least you asked first. :)

Ok, now I know who he is. Though I realize I'm going to sound like a fool, I originally started seriously considering Anarchy when I read 'V for Vendetta' by Alan Moore. I know it sounds like I adopted the view just by reading it, but all it really did was introduce the concept in a fair light, which allowed me to actually like about it on a deep level. This Chomsky person sound interesting, I'll have to look at his work.

He is a anarcho-socialist writer from Boston. and a really good writer.

I don't care about terrorism. It's more a question of whether you're a right-wing anarchist, and thus not a real anarchist at all, or a left-wing one.

I consider myself an anarchist in that same spirit. I don't say it very often, though - people get the wrong idea - like my mom who won't even listen. They just react to media sensationalism. My husband was upset until I showed him a documentary called Anarchism in America. I am proudly descended from Quakers and I like to think that they have a good dose of the anarchist spirit.

I am new, too - hello!

That's interesting, and I know what you mean. Personally, my own religous views have a good amount of influence from the quakers, and has led to my viewpoints on anarchy. Though I should say that, in most regards, I am more conservative than most anarchists.

Anarchism is an ideology permanently and inseparably connected to leftism, in history and in practice. Later deviations such as 'Anarcho-Capitalism', 'Individualist Anarchism', and various right-ist religious 'Anarchist' movements and so on are no more a part of Anarchism than, say, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is a part of democratic thought. They are, at most, severe cases of libertarianism.

Welcome, none the less.
