I've always been really small. According to my growth chart, this is what I was from nearing the end of age five to today. I'll start off with the date, then my age, and then my height:

*Kindergarten*
10/18/94 -5- 3'5"
12/28/95 -6- 3'6" (this was my b-day)
5/29/95 -6- 3'7"

*first grade*
11/9/95 -6- 3'8"
4/29/96 -7- 3'9"

*second grade*
2/8/97 -8- 3'11"

*third grade*
1/20/98 -9- 4'0"

*fourth grade*
7/15/98 -9- 4'1"
5/2/99 -10- 4'2"

*fifth grade*
3/12/00 -11- 4'4"

*sixth grade*
7/29/00 -11- 4'5"
5/28/01 -12- 4'7"

*seventh grade*
7/9/01 -12- 4'8"
8/5/01 -12- 4'9"
5/25/02 -13- 4'11"

*ninth grade*
8/6/03 -14- 5'0"
4/19/04 -15- 5'2"

*twelth grade*
12/2/06 -17- 5'3"

So do you think I was too small or what? I was also really thin, too. (By the time I was ten, I was only thirty-nine pounds.). What were your heights growing up?

I was always tall until I got into high school. Now I'm shorter than most people.

I always liked to pretend that I was Jamie Walters.

At least in the United States, the average height for a female adult is about 5' 4", and about 5' 10", if that, for a male adult. It may be that tall people are more noticeable. For an interesting site, check out www.shortsupport.org You would be amazed at how many famous people, and not just females, are, or were, not at all tall. All that said, I thought I was very small for my age, but today my height is about 5' 9", which is not all that far off the average. Height is one of my special interests, and I can really get wrapped up looking up height information, especially about famous people.

Not too long ago, I came across a paper from school where I talked about how I wished I would grow. Well, my arms certainly did not grow much, as I have very short arms, and rather large hands. I am sensitive to how people are proportioned, how much leg they have for how much torso, and the like. This information can be useful if you can't use the face to indentify people. Knowledge of human dimensions is crucial if you a designer, but it can be an obsession if parents feel cheated if their children aren't super tall.

I don't really mind being short, but I hated it when I was younger. I was always about a foot shorter than my peers. But now at my school, I'm taller than half the girls and shorter than half the girls. It's really weird being average at school for the first time in my life. But hey, I don't mind! Also, there is this girl, named Tia, whom lives down the street from me. She just turned eleven over the summer but still looks like she is six-years-old. Poor Tia...
