Why besides pokemon? Can I pleaaaaase add Pokemon Conquest to the list? It's AMAZING, not just because I'm a pokemon fan, but because it's just awesome XD
I love Puzzle Quest, Mario Kart, CrossworDS, Wordmaster (even though it's not a good game), Super Mario Bros, (whispers pokemon in there XD), Picross 3D, and ALL the Professor Layton games

Scribblenauts, inazuma, bowsers inside story, warioware: touched, professor layton, phoenix wright, advance wars. Just from the top of my head. The DS has a great library of games.

That's a good game too. From the same makers of the warioware series as well, so makes for fun mini games :)

Animal Crossing: Wild World wasn't bad; you could have the average four-person family playing it and contributing. The Digimon Story games were pretty good, and some of the evolutions were really rewarding. I also liked Dragon Quest IX. It had good graphics and the party system it has resembles an MMORPG in a way. The final boss was also quite easy.

My favorite original DS game probably has to be Mario Kart DS. They did a nice job on that game. They added some neat new tracks/courses and power-ups. My favorite DS game overall is Mario 64 DS. Mario 64 is my favorite game of all-time, and having a handheld version with thirty NEW stars was the whole reason I first bought a DS in the first place. While getting to experience the 30 new stars was cool, the mini-games that come from finding those hidden rabbits are by far the best part. My favorite of the mini-games is that one where you have to draw lines with the stylus to properly connect paths for character heads to land on the right bodies. I can just "see" that very easily, and it's a fun brain teaser. Haven't played the mini-games in a while. I should!

The Phoenix Wright games always seemed entertaining.

Also, Tetris DS is fun with online play. You are usually screwed if the other user has Japanese characters in their name :P

The World Ends With You. It is one of the few great Square games to come out in recent years.
It's like Final Fantasy meets Jet Set Radio. The game has pretty unique aesthetic, and a lot of really clever gameplay ideas. Neku was the first character in any Square game whom I could truly relate to (I found myself nodding in agreement with most of what he had to say), and on that note, TWEWY is not only a fun RPG experience, but it also delivers some rather biting social commentary on modern Tokyo (a good example being day 3 of week 2), with most of it being easily applicable to most of the rest of Japan and even urban society in general.

Grand Master Tetris: Terror Instinct is probably my most played. It's exclusively for homebrew/flashcarts though.

I'm into anything that doesn't use the touch screen and has minimal use of the shoulder buttons.

A couple of games that stood out to me back when I still played it:

Hotel Dusk -> don't know what the genre is, some sort of mystery game thing
Dementium: The Ward -> Survival horror. Fun but short, though they also made a sequel. Controls are good as well considering it's an FPS. Wouldn't expect it to be good on the DS but... it is!
The World Ends With You -> good story, good gameplay, good music

Magical Starsign is interesting if you like RPGs. Avalon Code if you like action/rpg's.

Ponies and Pokemon. I will never understand the mass appeal they both seem to have.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Best game I ever played on a Handheld console, I'm addicted to it.
