I was born in Chicago and raised in Los Angeles by a New Yorker and a Midwesterner born in North Carolina, and have no direct ancestors of immigrants from less than three generations back, and usually more. Yet despite this many people question my accent. Sometimes people think I have a "British" accent (to which I might mockingly ask which one) or rarely even an Irish one. Strangers sometimes ask me where I'm from, and sometimes people are surprised upon hearing I've spent the vast majority of my life in L.A. even if they already knew me for awhile. It's weird. Sometimes upon examining myself I think that maybe it does sound vaguely Scottish or Northern English, which I suppose isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility since I do have a large chunk of my ancestry from Scotland and England, but then I also sometimes think there are some Southern, Welsh, and even Kiwi influences, which is weird and nonsensical. In all honesty I've probably just got a rather heavily varied Southern Californian accent.

Though I was born in Canada, I speak with a Cockney accent. I tried to lose it when I was 17 and 18. I never did lose it and I'm happy about that, now. I wasn't happy about it when I was 18 and I was in denial that it was the Cockney accent that I spoke with. I called it just some accent from England and that I'd lose it.

I've accepted my accent and the rest of my differences in the Year 2000.

People often comment that I have a British accent. I don't know why. A Jamaician accent would make more sense for me to have. I guess that is just my voice

I am not really sure. Living north, south, east, and west in the states and several years in Europe has pretty much flattened it. But once in a while I pronounce a word with a Long Island, NY accent, where I was born and raised.

To clarify what I said: I was born in the US, so I have a typical middle American accent. Nothing special, really.

It probably sounds weird but my accept tends to change. Sometimes it'll have a slight Russian flair to it and other times it'll have a Canadian sound to it (even though I've never been to either). It's always slightly southern, though. :|

No accent. My accent is totally missing when I speak.

I do that, too. Unless it's a harsh-sounding accent or something.

Mostly Australian because I was born and raised here, but i've inherited a slight Scottish twang to some words from my parents that everyone seems to pick up on.

I grew up in hawaii but I've always had a weird accent I'm told. I put huge annunciations on T's
After leaving hawaii years ago and having people question me all the time I've forcefully changed my accent to blend in.

Mine is British. You can say it is very much like Received Pronunciation except for the fact that I pronounce the 'a' in words like 'bath', 'dance' and 'pass' as /æ/ instead of /ɑː/ .

Most people who know me say that I have practically no accent. Even though I live in Massachusetts, I say my "r's" normally. However, I can do accents from many different regions of the world, including, English, a distinctly different Scottish and Irish, French, German, Italian, and a slightly less developed Middle Eastern accent. That comes from practice.
