Lately, I've wondered: Given how I've said that Homer Simpson is lazy/incompetent like myself to a degree, is he an Aspie?

The only shred of evidence is that he is lazy, as said above, like me, so that is the only bit of proof I have ATM. Anyone want to put up their theories, have at it.

No. Laziness and incompetence are NOT symptoms of Asperger's syndrome. Homer has no social difficulties (that aren't of his own creation), has no regular obsessions, makes eye contact and does not use overly formal language (unless it's for a joke). You'd make a better case for Lisa or Professor Frink being aspies, but you'd still be wrong.

I'd say Martin Prince is the most aspie-like Simpsons character, but it's been years since I watched the show.

Good grief I hope not.

Also, there is an episode of him stuffing a crayon up his nose and into his brain, causing many of his difficulties. When it was removed, many of his difficulties were removed as well.

Homer simpson is an everyman (or everyboy-or whatever)and everyjuviniledeliguent.

As nt as you can get-without a shred of austicality.

That nerdy kid with the glasses might be a bit aspie though.

You can be AS and lazy at the same time, but you are not lazy BECAUSE of AS.

Hmmm... he seems like an aspie in the episode where the crayon that keeps his above average intelligence in check is removed, but not otherwise (and this episode is inconsistent with many others, like the one with the "Simpson gene").

He is either an aspie with physical brain damage or he is not aspie at all depending on which episodes are canonical on the issue.

I'm pretty sure laziness, alcoholism, and child abuse don't come along with Asperger's.

I think that's what I may have (w/o the crayon in the brain part).

I think you should get your head scanned to check for crayons.

Maybe, but unless the changes in the DSM-V are a lot more extensive than I realized the "crayon in brain" bit is kind of an important difference from a diagnostic perspective...

Done many years ago; nothing. I may be Homer Simpson-like that times, but I don't stoop that low.

It's implied that, like Bart, he might have ADHD. Definitely not Aspergers.
