Favorite time-travel film/TV series?

I maintain my theory that time travel is impossible by evidence of, no one has ever traveled back to our time or before. If someone had done it, we would know, because if one person can invent it in the future, no matter how secret it is, it is going to get in the hands of someone else eventually, or invented again. Someone irresponsible is going to get their hands on it eventually at some point in the future, doesn't matter when, and start dicking around with the space time continuum and somewhere in our history would have made their presence known. Since this isn't the case, I assume its because time travel is impossible.


And yet I still like watching movies about it and arguing about plot inconsistencies

Red dwarf

One-way time travel that only goes forward(future) in time is much more likely to be possible than time travel that goes backwards into the past.

Theoretically, space travel approaching the speed of light could have this precise effect:

Not only is it possible, it its impossible to avoid. We are doing it right now.

My favorite is the Star Trek:The Next Generation episode Time's Arrow. I like a good time-loop story like By His Bootstraps, also Samuel Clemons is awesome (he knew Guinan). Also The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy TV show featured time travel and this may come as a but of a shock, but I like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I don't know if Terminator counts since for the most part we don't see Kyle Reese or the terminators actually making the jump in time from the future.

Seriously, it's probably got the least logically problematic time traveling I've seen in a series. Not that it doesn't have plenty of other logically problematic stuff in it in general... but I thought the time travel thing involving Trunks was actually done surprisingly well in it.

The Jacket (2005)
Twelve Monkeys (1995) - and The Pier (La jetée) (1962) on which it was based.
Looper (2012) - not a favourite but could have been good.

Biggles: Adventures in Time (1986) - no... seriously... no.

For me, it used to be Dr Who (please let it get back on form for series 8!) but these days, definitely Steins;Gate.

Back then there was usually only one TV in each household so watching TV was truly a family affair. This series was our family's "appointment TV" 30 years before that expression became popular.

I remember walking into a theater in Times Square playing this movie without having any prior knowledge of what the movie was about and being very pleasantly impressed.

Anyone watch CONTINUUM? I haven't actually seen it, but the plot sounds intriguing....
