But the elephant is considered unclean, so it must be two.

Ok, the point of this thread:

Did Noah/God knew that the African Elephant, the African savanna elephants, the African forest elephants and the Asian elephants are three different species? They are different from each other as the lion is different from the tiger

According to the Torah, they were only two, so how comes? Lol

The Noah's ark fairytale in bunk no matter what way you look at it.

Even forgetting for a moment that the ship required would have been the greatest marine engineering accomplishment in history (and we're to believe it was built by a single man) the thought of putting animals like lions, tigers, buffalo and wilderbeast and expecting them not to eat each other is too fanciful to believe.

I know, but this question is for the Jews/Christians, not atheists/agnostics.

I want to see the Jews/Christians' answers to this one.

Maybe Elephants were on probation and were clean for 40 days.

What about the millions of beetles though? You had to have millions of pairs for each species of beetle to be represented-even if beetles are considered "unclean".

None.

Noah did not build an arc; he built an ark, instead.

Does the torah actually specify elephants?

There were (and are) actually a lot more than 3 different kinds of elephants.

Elephants are f*****g awesome. I'm glad Noah saved them.

Anyway, this thread sent me to look up Eddie Izzard's Flood routine, so thanks.

"At this point, Noah realised he was actually punching a baboon...", evil ducks, etc.

It's possible that either it was a miracle, or what it was not meant to be read literally.

We may never know.

I do find it interesting in the Epic of Gilgamesh, a part of the story involves finding the man who survived the flood.
